The following is some poetry I wrote in my journal [aka "observation notebook"] while on the jobby-job at Sea-Tac...

[*haikus]

cold Safeco bleachers
sitting, shivering - back, back...
GONE!!! cool souvenir

know what's amusing?
three hours handling baggage
biting sarcasm

on planet Sea-Tac
endless hurricane of souls
storm's eye, observing

Pencil and paper in hand/ I really don't understand/ all the mysteries life offers/ of all, the grand mystery of God/ throughout history, He who's been the lightning rod/ for all the pundits, critiquers and scoffers/ attempting to deny and undermine all He has to offer/ humanity/ despite its profanity/ innate selfishness and insanity/ vanity, prescribing to "loving ~my~self ahead of others"/ and still people ask, "why is it so hard for us to call one another brother?"/ seeing beyond the superficial covers/ when are people gonna realize that race ain't nuthin' but a color/ Australian, Moroccan, Italian, Mexican, or Japanese/ it really doesn't make a difference to God when you're down on your knees/ I pray that someday people realize there's nothing more refreshing than a heavenly breeze/ saying He's has to be "immanent or transcendant," either far or near/ failing to realize He's both, and that He's the one you really need to fear/ on this ship of planet Earth, God is the omnipotent captain/ Overseer of limitless black ocean clear/ "free-willing" humanity, the deck-hand given the responsibility to steer/ in the beginning, it wasn't your choice to will yourself into being/ it was because of God's divine plan that you're here experiencing/ an eternally inspired flow/ going against the prevailing motivation of doing it for show/ or in the case of mainstream Top 40 rappers, the "doe"/ boasting materialistically about "mo' Bentley's, mo' honeys and mo' money"/ when in the eyes of God, these ways are simply "mo' sorry"/ a paradoxical comparison like Playstation 2 to Atari/ "how 'bout the Army?"/ no, it's only through His grace that you can "be all that you can be"/ only through trusting the Lord will you unlock a soul that's chain-less and free...

Foosball...this evening I'm reminded once again how fun this "sport" can be. Especially if the two competitors are ultra-competitive...

I played about 10 or so games w/ KC, who's one of my younger cousins. Her proficiency and competitive fire in regards to the game really surprised me. I didn't really expect too much competition, but she kept each game close (exceeding an end margin of three only once), and actually won two of 'em...

I wrote up a lengthy entry on my impressions of Final Fantasy X along w/ my experience at Burien Honda, and it all got obliterated! Argh! Well, here's the short version...

I stopped by Burien Honda yesterday to drop off the deposit for the repairs on my car. It turned out that it was a faulty timing belt that did me in on 509...

It was funny there, being in Burien Honda. The receptionist there, along w/ Adrianna (gal workin' on my car) referred to me as the "Green-Honda-Accord" guy, and the only reason they could ascern this was because they instantly recognized my voice. I couldn't help but crack up...

"Green-Honda-Accord" guy...has a nice ring to it, I must say. Ha, ha...

Well, on FFX, I won't even try to re-iterate everything I said. Here are some of the points I touched on nonetheless...

~Graphically, it's bomb-shell gorgeous. An absolute grahical tour-de-force that sets the new standard for RPG's.

~The main characater, Tidus, is molded in the like-ness of "Raiden" from Metal Gear Solid 2. If you haven't played that one yet, I won't spoil it for you by elaborating on that character, but Tidus shares a similar fresh-out-of-high-school-boisterously-nieve-like-adolescent-squirrel-crossing-busy-intersection mentality...

~FFX displays thorough polish, and aesthetically it maintains the vintage FF feel...

~FFX seems to be more story driven than its predecessors...

~The pivotal bosses of the game require much more strategic savvy in defeating them. In past FF's, you could rely on brute force in defeating virtually all of the bosses. Not here...

~The battle and "bulding-up" engine has been re-vamped. The battle sequences are no longer ATB, rather more on the side of real-time, which allow the battles to be quicker-paced and much smoother and authentic. Also, the characters build up through a system of "spheres," building up "sphere" levels and chaining spheres. I like this system because feasibly one could progress though the game w/out feeling obligated to fight tediously through most every random foe encountered...

Like I said, I wrote much more than this in my original entry, so these are only a handful of my observations on this outstanding testament to RPG brilliance. But what I do remember is that I closed it by saying that FFX is at its core, quite simply..."supa-dupa-freakin' awesome!" =]

On to the 2nd half of FFX...

I've been an RPG fiend lately...

RPG's that I'm currently playin' through:

~Chrono Cross

~Final Fantasy VIII

~Final Fantasy X

About to pick up the latter at EB in about half an hour. Can't wait to fire this one up in the ol' PS2...

In other unrelated news, as I was typing this up I had a phone call. But it wasn't the call that struck me. It was seeing a shiny new copy of the DVD "The Fast and the Furious" sitting by its lonesome on the living room table. Haven't caught this flick yet, but what I do know about the movie is that it involves super-freakin' fast cars, and that Ja Rule's track "Livin' it Up" is on the soundtrack...

I'm sure it won't be as refreshing or intellectually stirring as "A Beautiful Mind." Which was a cool flick in its own right, thoroughly annihilating any pre-conceived notions I had about the movie based on the trailer and such. Then again, I suppose it's OK to indulge in cinematic Star-burst every now and then...

...and a Happy New Year 2002 to you too! =]

Reflection of the day:

"The only certainty is the pervasiveness of uncertainty."

-Reg

As we enter Y2K2, I think my main goal continues to be achieving a sense of balance and fulfillment. But I think in this day in age especially, it's a struggle because there are so many sources of stress shooting out from every which direction.

I've been pondering this quote that I came up with while on the Seattle Metro earlier. As human beings, we don't know exactly what the future holds for us. Only the Lord knows what's in store for the future...

And because the Lord knows, a Lord who's faithful to His followers, I'm able to embrace an "uncertain" future w/ an utmost certainty...

Just an observation I've made from reflecting on New Year 2002, and in light of recent globe-shakin' events...
