trapped in box, tortured
soul battered mercilessly
hardened from neglect

Caught Minority Report today...stellar flick. It had a dark, futuristic Orwellian "1984" feel to it, those of you who've read it know what's up. I really enjoy the "Sci-Fi" genre, really stimulates my imagination, at least when its done right...

Hit the Emerald track a couple hours later, to catch races 9 and 10, aka the "free gates"...haha. Came out $160 in the black on a pair of $3 exacta boxes on three horses each...woo-hoo! Also came out $20 positive the day before, even though I don't usually head down there on Fridays...

[update: hit a $1 tri. box on Sunday evening, netting a cool $119.10, puttin' the b-roll up $60 for the day... ]

Nothin' like an Odwalla's Carrot, Orange, Apple smoothie after an intense IMA work-out session... =]

Received my University of Washington diploma in the mail today...woo-hoo!

Another chapter in in my abbreviated life thus far is complete...

The next chapter? There's myriad possibilities, but right now I'm definitely considering being an officer or a ~pilot~ w/ the ANG, which is affiliated w/ the Air Force...

Ha, ha...yeah, there's no typo there. =] Highlighted ~pilot~ 'cause that's been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, which dates back to pre-Kindergarten days. People back then would ask me what I wanted to be, and I'd tell them I'd wanna fly in the Air Force...

It's funny, when I try to think back and explore my toddler-esque rationale for givin' such an answer, couldn't really say...

Actually wait, I didn't know it at the time, but now that I think back on it, I had an unbelievable fascination with strength and freedom. What's cool is that I'm still, at my ripe ol' age of 23, fascinated w/ these concepts...

It's assuring that there's an official name for this affliction I find myself falling into as I head into my mid-20's...ha, ha.

Came out $30 in the black yesterday at Emerald...

Hit the Lincoln Park tennis courts this afternoon. Played a couple sets w/ Al, a regular down there at Lincoln...

First time this year playin' actual sets, even if they were techinically just practice. My main on-court weapon, the backhand, was stronger than I'd anticipated, along w/ my serve which had smokin' pace and consistency. I was up 5-3 and 40-love in the first set, but I ended up tankin', and losing the set 7-6. I guess the set really loosened away the jitters and rust, 'cause I ended up takin' the 2nd one 6-3...

I was uncharacteristically tired by the end of the 2nd set. Usually I'm brimmin' w/ energy and ready to play set after set, as long as I've got a water or Gatorade jug sittin' handily on the bench. Must've been the unexpected, energy sappin' kitchen duty the night before at the AACF Senior Sendoff...ha, ha. Didn't mind much though, food reflected culinary expertise, and was aplenty the entire evening. At certain junctures, it seemed like a continuous stream that didn't have an end. Muchas gracias and props to the chef. Also had a great time catchin' up, reminiscing, and talkin' on future plans w/ the Asiatic UW brethren in Christ...

Things are definitely changin' on this exquisitely balanced planet Earth...

It's this exquisite balance that makes a person appreciate how interconnnected nature is, and just like a Honda Accord engine, as I can attest to first-hand, when one thing is rendered incapable of performing its proper function, the entire mechanism ends up gettin' thrown out of whack...

It's sad how people don't, or just plain refuse, to see what's goin' on here. The irony's breath-takingly glaring...

Came out $55 in the black this afternoon at Emerald...

Saturday, June 01, 2002

Ended up $50 in the hole this evening at Emerald...it happens. Came close to hittin' a nice lookin' exacta and trifecta, one of each, but it's too bad that close doesn't count for squat in this sport...heh.

Well, then again, maybe it counts in the sense that your pushin' some of the right buttons, or rather, have an intuitive sense on ~how~ to push those buttons as a handicapper...

Here are some cool tips on handicapping, if any of you out there are the least bit interested. The tips on grass are irrelevant for the most part, considering the Pacific Northwest's own Emerald Downs is a dirt course. Only if all races prescribed to the eighth tip...heh.
