Right now I'm real interested in entering the profession of Physical Therapy. I'm intrigued by the medical field, and this just might be my shot to further establish a fulfilling career and to impact the world w/ a meaningful contribution...

2nd stint at the U of Washington is lookin' like a strong option...

Ran into friend Chris Valdez at Southcenter this past Saturday. Didn't recognize him at first, but it's all good 'cause he recognized me immediately, exchanging "waddup bro, long time no C's" and a ghetto-fied hand shake. I told him about the Air Guard [satellite] exploits, and he came across real congratulatory about that. I asked him if he's still goin' to the UW, and he replied in a "same ol' sh..." tone, that "yeah, I'm still goin' to school...my life right now is all school/work/church." I mentioned that "I could relate, life can be a vicious cycle like that sometimes." We nodded our heads in concurrence, and branched off into another subject...

Stopped by my cousin Rod's house later, hanging out and watching the epic 141-137 Mavericks-Kings game that the Mavs took, and playing tennis. On the way to the court, he told me how Apolo Ohno drove up to his house in a hard-core 2003 Lexus to pick up him and his sister for Pho about a month ago. I was intrigued when he told me thet Apolo "changed," that "he's got a real cocky personality now." I sensed an unmistakable tone of disappointment there...

On Mother's Day I hit the tennis courts and rallied for a couple hours there w/ Gary who's a regular there. After the perspiration-fest, I'd say that my backhand is at 85% on the "lethally-devastating-to-opponent" scale. =] Picked up a hulking bag of California ruby red grapefruits for the Mother which brightened her day...

Joining up 24 Hour Fitness today, since they're currently offering a "no enrollment fee" and also 'cause 9 months is NINE MONTHS TOO long to go without an effective workout regimen. The Air Force thing of 3 days per week of 2 minutes of push-ups, sit-ups, and 30 minutes of running? Please, kid!

Here's a nifty site if you're lookin' for a FREE ISP around the Seattle area...

Enjoyed myself thoroughly at the M's game, even if the "good guys" came out on the losing end of things. Did my rounds at the speed pitch booth as I customarily do at Safeco, a ritual that's been part of my going to M's games, dating back to the late 80's and the hey-day of Alvin Davis, Mark Langston, the "King-Dog-Dome," and gettin' free ice-cream fr. a cousin that used to man an ice-cream stand right behind home plate, section 109. Ran into Jeff, a friend that's a freshman at the UW. We caught up, which was real coo, filled him in on the adventurous marathon that is Air Force BMT and tech. training. He complimented me on my pitching, but I personally wasn't satisfied with the velocity of my pitches, which have been clocked in upwards of 75MPH. Instead on this night, I only reached a pinnacle of 62MPH. Think I should do some extensive long toss to stretch out my arm again, coupled w/ lifting sessions at the UW IMA, which I truly miss since I haven't been intensely working out since I left for BMT.

As for the jobby-job, so far it's been really coo. The people at my base actually hooked me up w/ 60 days of what's called "seasoning training." Real laid back atmosphere, the regulars here even play volleyball twice a day, which is a welcome diversion from CBT training. Doesn't really fit the picture of the achingly structured and regimented AF I knew during these past 9 months of AD, but I definitely ain't complaining...

I'm 24 now, and it's kinda hard to believe that I've been on this Earth for almost a quarter century. It's funny, didn't realize I was 24 until my brother casually said "happy birthday" a few minutes ago...

Picked up a 20" Sony flat panel WEGA at Circuit City tonight, since my old Mitsubishi set finally kicked the ol' picture tube bucket. Have fun in dilapidated TV-set heaven ol' friend, thanx for the memories of these past 14 years and your dutiful service during this time...

Also gonna be catching the M's Yanks game at Safeco this Wed. the 7th. It'll be interesting to see the Japanese sensations Ichiro and Matsui duel it out on opposing sides...

Back in Sea-Town!

Did car maintenance for much of today on the ol' Accord. Replaced the battery, drained/flushed/filled fresh Prestone coolant, made sure tire pressure checked out to 32 PSI all around, and washed the ride too. Change machine at the car wash wasn't working right, so I had to drive about 2 miles down 35th to get $3.00 of quarters at WaMu. Yeah, kind of a hassle, but what more than made up for it was calling up USAA [military affiliated] about car insurance rates, and gettin' hooked up w/ a nice deal on 6-month full coverage, about $630 for the plan which comes out to about a tad more than $100 per month. Not bad, eh? Especially considering the old company I used to be covered under quoted me for $1800 for the same plan right before I called USAA. Talk about potentially gettin' the royal jack-over on some serious coin...
